I was devastated when I heard about the 90% cuts to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monuments.
My husband and I have been hiking in Utah since the mid-80s. We have spent a huge amount of time in the canyons in the Cedar Mesa area which are now no longer protected.
I got involved with Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance and am impressed by the efforts they are making to restore these remarkable and beautiful places to their rightful monument status.
It is heartening to know that so many people care. Every person that sends a letter makes a difference.
The ancient homes in these areas, with the remnants of the lives that were lived there are worthy of protection. Help protect these areas from mining, drilling and destruction.
